چکیده

We present a stochastic approach for solving the quantumkinetic equation introduced in Part I. A Monte Carlo method based on backward time evolution of the numerical trajectories is developed. The computational complexity and the stochastic error are investigated numerically. Variance reduction techniques are applied, which demonstrate a clear advantage with respect to the approaches based on symmetry transformation. Parallel implementation is realized on a GRID infrastructure.

Femtosecond Evolution of Spatially Inhomogeneous Carrier Excitations Part I: Kinetic Approach

The ultrafast evolution of optically excited carriers which propagate in a quantum wire and interact with three dimensional phonons is investigated. The equation, relevant to this physical problem, is derived by a first principle approach. The electron-phonon interaction is described on a quantum-kinetic level by the Levinson equation, but the evolution problem becomes inhomogeneous due to the ...

Ultra-fast Carrier Transport Simulation on the Grid. Quasi-Random Approach

The problem for simulation ultra-fast carrier transport in nano-electronics devices is a large scale computational problem and requires HPC and/or Grid computing resources. The most widely used techniques for modeling this carrier transport are Monte Carlo methods. In this work we consider a set of stochastic algorithms for solving quantum kinetic equations describing quantum effects during the...

A hybrid deterministic-stochastic algorithm for modeling cell signaling dynamics in spatially inhomogeneous environments and under the influence of external fields.

Cell signaling dynamics mediate myriad processes in biology. It has become increasingly clear that inter- and intracellular signaling reactions often occur in a spatially inhomogeneous environment and that it is important to account for stochastic fluctuations of certain species involved in signaling reactions. The importance of these effects enhances the difficulty of gleaning mechanistic info...

A Novel Combinatorial Approach to Discrete Fracture Network Modeling in Heterogeneous Media

Fractured reservoirs contain about 85 and 90 percent of oil and gas resources respectively in Iran. A comprehensive study and investigation of fractures as the main factor affecting fluid flow or perhaps barrier seems necessary for reservoir development studies. High degrees of heterogeneity and sparseness of data have incapacitated conventional deterministic methods in fracture network modelin...

A Stochastic Approach for Simulating Spatially Inhomogeneous Coagulation Dynamics in the Gelation Regime

We present a stochastic approach for the simulation of coagulation-diffusion dynamics in the gelation regime. The method couples the mass flow algorithm for coagulation processes with a stochastic variant of the diffusion-velocity method in a discretized framework. The simulation of the stochastic processes occurs according to an optimized implementation of the principle of grouping the possibl...
